A local mustard manufacturer recently contacted Nelson Brothers & Strom in need of our help in making replacement gears for a seed grinder. This was another emergency rush job request for NB&S and the company owner told our mechanics that he wanted the grinder going again by Sunday night. No problem.
Here is the timeline on the project:
- Mustard company mechanic contacts NB&S at 9:36 am on a Saturday
- The damaged gears arrive at NB&S at 10:30 am
- The gears are reverse engineered and drawing files are sent to the mustard company for approval by 1 pm
- Material for the gears was in stock at NB&S, approval was received and work began on the gears at 2:30 pm
- The gear mesh and fit of the first set was approved by the mechanic at 9:30 am on Sunday
- New replacement gears were delivered to the mechanics at 4:15 pm on Sunday
- The mustard grind machine was running before 3rd shift arrived for work Sunday
